This May event celebrates the oldies with bands on the beach and cars on the boardwalk! Dance the night away under a starlit sky on the first Friday evening of the event and then get some rest for another two days of live music, classic cars, hot rods, and the best tunes of the oldies.
Our boardwalk turns into its own Route 66 for the car show on Saturday where the classics compete with today’s models. Your attention may be captured by the 20 ft. inflatable jukebox on the beach which will be the home for all the dancing.
Admission to concerts on the beach is free, and you can purchase food and beer from vendors in tents set up along the beach. Beach Music Cruise-In takes place at 30th street and is a great family-friendly event.
Virginia Beach is overtaken by pirates in mid-May for two action-packed days of music and mayhem!
If ye be on the hunt for pirates you’ll find them at the Dairy Queen Grill & Chill 17th Street Park. Find your inner pirate as you search for treasure, play pirate-themed games, and watch pirate re-enactors practice swordplay and serenade you with sea shanties.
The Pirate Party on the Beach is free and open to everyone, pirate or non-pirate.
Start summer off with a fantastic concert over Memorial Day weekend. Celebrate our military men and women’s sacrifice throughout the years, as well as American music and fun in the sun.
The star-spangled event features live music from local and regional bands and the honorable “Heroes Walk” that spans the boardwalk from 17th to 31st streets. Salute the heroes of our country and remember the sacrifice they’ve made to the United States.
The event is free and open to the public.

There’s no shortage of hits as performances are held on dueling beach stages at 24th Street. Enjoy the talents of impressive cover bands such as Hot for Teacher, a sensational Van Halen tribute band, and Zoso – The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience, and Cosmic Charlie covering the Grateful Dead. These bands rock the stage with impressive vocals and smashing guitar skills.

This family-friendly event celebrates Latin food, music, and dance. Salsa your way across the dance floor or enjoy the sounds of Merengue while relaxing on the beach on Friday night. It won’t be long before you want to get on your feet and dance under the light of the stars.
On Saturday, there’s a four-hour Zumba fitness marathon! You can join for one hour or stay in the Zumba party for all four.

Held on the Fourth of July, this event honors our country’s history, ideals, and music through symphony orchestra, chorale, and tribute band performances. There are patriotic songs, songs from popular American movies, and of course stellar fireworks.
Opa! Plan to be in Virginia Beach in July for the best Greek party on the East Coast! This three-day celebration of Greek-American culture includes food, music, and fun and festivities.
Watch the professionals perform Greek dances or get up and learn some new moves for yourself. Beer and wine will be available at this event.
This event does require tickets which can be purchased at the gate, though children 12 and under are free, just like at Sundial Inn!
Groove to the beat of American funk and say good-bye to summer at the State Farm FunkFest in late August.
This musical event pays homage to the sounds of funk that combine soul, jazz, and R&B music into a sound you can really dance to. In fact, you can enter the dance contest to show off your groovy moves. The staged event is on the beach at 24th Street and food is available for purchase.
The three-day American Music Festival in September does require a pass or individual performance tickets. A Passport Pin, available for $40, gives you access to all three main stage concerts. Tickets and pins are available for purchase through Ticketmaster.
