4 Wheel Parts Monsters on the Beach, May 12 – 14

Some fun is revving up at the beach this summer with this family-friendly monster truck battle! Catch racers dodge sand dunes and junk cars out on the track during the two-hour races.

This is a ticketed event with tickets available for purchase online.

Virginia International PAN Fest, May 12 – 13

Feel the rhythm of the Caribbean with this festival devoted to the unique sounds of steel drum music! This musical competition brings together student musicians and community bands to compete for the Grand Champion Award!

The festival is free and open to the public.

Beach Music Cruise-In, May 19 – 21

Get ready to kick off the summer with a three-day lineup of free concerts at the Annual Beach Music Cruise-In! This nostalgic festival brings the era of the oldies to life on the beach with fun music and a classic car show.

Admission to the beach concerts is free.

Pirate Party on the Beach, May 20 – 21

Ye be warned that pirates are overtaking Virginia Beach near the end of May for the Annual Pirate Party on the Beach! This family-friendly event features costume contests, treasure hunts, weapons demonstrations, and kid-friendly activities for the little scallywags.

The party is free and open to the public and all pirates.

Salute to Summer, May 26 – 28

Welcome summer and pay tribute to our military men and women Memorial Day Weekend with the Salute to Summer on Beach Street USA. Read the moving essays on the “Heroes Walk” to honor the work done by our armed forces before listening to the live, free concerts.

Hardee’s Latin Fest, June 23 – 24

Join the Zumba marathon, immerse yourself in the Latin culture, or treat yourself to flavorful food at Hardee’s Latin Fest!

Sandstock – A Tribute to Rock & Roll, June 30 – July 2

Relive the classic music festival but this time on a beautiful beach at Sandstock! Two stages, Hippy Dippy Stage and the Flower Power Stage, both have great lineups of tribute bands for Led Zeppelin, Boston, Journey, and more!

All concerts are free.

Stars & Stripes Explosion, July 4

Celebrate America’s birthday in Virginia Beach with the free Stars & Stripes Explosion where you can catch live entertainment and of course a fantastic fireworks show!

Starting on the Fourth of July and running weekly until September 2, 2017, watch a dazzling display of fireworks on the beach at 10 p.m. Fireworks are dependent on weather conditions or if there are rough seas and cancellations are shared on

The Independence Day show is at 9:30 p.m. for the Stars & Stripes Explosion and at 10:45 p.m. on September 1 and 2 for the American Music Festival.

Chalk the Walk ARTsplosion, July 8

Bring your own chalk and show off your artistic abilities with this chalk drawing competition! Amateurs and seasoned artists are all welcome to participate in various divisions and for different prizes. Kids under the age of 12 get to draw just for fun in a separate area if they want to participate too. This year’s theme is “Meet me at the movies!”

FunkFest Beach Party featuring Africana Virginia Beach, August 25 – 26

Celebrate the sounds of and strong rhythm of funk at this free music festival! You might just find yourself moved to participate in the dance contests. Then, you should treat yourself to a delicious snack after all your grooving out on the dance floor.

American Music Festival, September 1 – 3

Hear the sounds of various music genres at this three-day event. The concert brings local, regional, and national bands together to end the summer season with a lineup of free concerts.
