1. The Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center
The Aquarium is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day (with the exception of Thanksgiving and Christmas) and is the perfect spot for educational fun! Housing more than 800,000 gallons of water and fascinating exhibits; you can also catch a show at the National Geographic 3D Theater. See the rays, seals, turtles, otters, and sharks in a variety of habitats.
You can also grab something to eat there with a few dining options. Grab quick bites from the Theater Snack Stand or the Otter Snack Bar, or opt for a bigger meal at the Aquarium Café with salads, sandwiches, and desserts.
2. Children’s Museum
With about a 30-minute car ride, you and the little ones can be at the Children’s Museum of Virginia! Open Tuesday – Sunday, explore the two floors of fun that includes a train exhibit and a planetarium! They also have special daily activities throughout the week to keep the kiddos engaged and having fun as they learn.
3. Bounce House

The MOCA is closed Mondays but open Tuesday – Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
6. Visit the Military Aviation Museum
See planes from World War I and World War II in the hangers at the Military Aviation Museum. Find hangars dedicated to different branches of our armed forces and plenty of historical artifacts or try to coordinate your visit with a special event like an airshow or flyover. The museum is open each day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., though closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
7. Pick up something unique
Visit the Virginia Beach Antique Mall and take home a unique antique! This 32,000 sq. ft. space features finds from more than 125 dealers. Whether you’re looking for a particular era, type of antique, or just something seasonal and fun, the mall will have it! The mall is open Monday – Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
8. Escape Room Virginia Beach
You’ve got 60 minutes to find the clues and solve the mystery and break out of the Escape Room! Test your detective skills with four distinct stories to choose from, like high noon saloon or the con artist. It’s open seven days a week, Monday – Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from noon to 10 p.m., and Saturday – Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
9. Go back in time
Step back into another era and capture it on film when you visit Flashback Old Time Photos in Virginia Beach! Dress up in authentic costumes, spanning from the 1840s to 1930s, and step into your saloon for your photo shoot! It’s great fun for families, kids, groups, and couples.
